Implementation Process
The actual implementation of an electronic medical record (EMR)
solution is primarily the responsibility of the physician's chosen
EMR provider. This includes major activities such as:
- The installation of hardware and software
- Setting up of network requirements
- Integration with defined provincial systems
- Migration of data (if appropriate)
- Delivery of all necessary training
To help achieve a successful implementation, the clinic will be
responsible for tasks such as:
- Completing all forms and agreements
- Reviewing and approving hardware for the new EMR solution
- Completing a privacy impact assessment
- Scheduling training for physicians and staff
- Adjusting patient load during the implementation
- Completing a thorough review of any migrated data
The Physician Office System Program (POSP) team provides support throughout the
implementation process.
